Olympus News aims to help people access academic research about the ancient world in new ways. The intention is to take some important debates from ancient history and present the appropriate evidence in an accessible form. After watching our films, the viewer will have all of the information needed to take a stand on the debate - hopefully this will enable people of all ages, and from all walks of life, to engage actively in ancient history. With the option to comment on posts on this website, and a twitter account, we really hope to get a dialogue going about the debates on these pages.
Olympus News was created by Stephen Harrison, a PhD student in Classics (Ancient History), at Cambridge University. The first film was funded by Cambridge Shorts, a filmmaking scheme run by the Cambridge University Public Engagement team, and Communicating Ancient Greece & Rome 2, run by the APGRD at Oxford University, and funded by the AHRC. The film was directed & edited by Meghan Horvath. If you think this venture is worth a second film, do let us know via twitter or e-mail ([email protected]) - especially if you can contribute to funding!
